LISTENING ACTIVITY EXAMPLE
Hello everyone!
I want to share with you one example of a Listening activity to do in class, which we will use the materials created with the resources shared in the last post.
The topic of the day is gonna be “The Hobbies”, and we can start the class with a little brainstorming to know how many hobbies our learners like. Following the lesson, the teacher starts to explain the activity which consists in play a game, where they have to watch a picture projected in a white board.
Picture:
Then, learners have to draw a table with nine gaps, and in each gap, they have to write one word of the projected picture. After that, the teacher explains that the words in the picture that they have copied, are the lyrics of the video song that they are going to watch (" The Hobbies Song for Kids - What do you like to do? ") . The game consists in listening the song while the students have to underline the written words when it appears, and if they have all the words underlined must raise their hands and say “Bingo!”. Firstly, the teacher plays the song without starting the game, thus students can have a first contact with it. The song can be played three times to have a better comprehension. When most of the students have said “Bingo!”, they start to share the words what they have with the classmates of the table group. Finally, if the learners want, the teacher plays the song again and all the class can sing together.

I hope you enjoy it!

Hello María,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I would like to tell you that your blog is really beautiful, and as an avocado lover I find it very funny!
Secondly, I love the activity. In my opinion, it is very motivating and entertaining, and perfect to learn vocabulary about hobbies and improve listening skills at the same time that the students play. One idea I had while reading it, is create their own wordcloud when they know enough vocabulary. Here you are a website in which they could do it for free and then you can print it, I did it with my students and they really liked it!

No doubt that I will do it with my students, they love singing and playing bingo, so this could be a perfect activity for them, thank you so much!
See you soon!
